About Peacock College of Nursing Sciences, Akure

Peacock College of Nursing Sciences, Akure, is a fully licensed and accredited private institution dedicated to delivering excellence in Nursing education. Our programmes are regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)in collaboration with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

We offer a range of professional Nursing and Midwifery programmes designed to meet the needs of aspiring healthcare professionals. Our flagship programme is the ND/HND in Nursing Sciences, a 4-year uninterrupted Higher National Diploma (HND)programme. Admission into this ND/HND programme requires a valid JAMB result.

Our Programmes

We currently run the following programmes:

•  ND/HND in Nursing Sciences (4 years)— Requires JAMB. Leads to HND certification and professional certificates.
•  Basic Nursing (3 years)— No JAMB required. Leads to certification as a Registered Nurse (RN).
•  Basic Midwifery (3 years)— No JAMB required. Leads to certification as a Registered Midwife (RM).
•  Post Basic Nursing (18 months)— No JAMB required. For trained professionals seeking specialization in Nursing.
•  Post Basic Midwifery (18 months)— No JAMB required. For trained professionals seeking specialization in Midwifery.

Graduation Pathways

• Students graduating from the ND/HND in Nursing Sciencesprogramme are awarded a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Nursing Sciences, and are also certified as Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Midwives (RM).
• Students from Basic Nursingand Basic Midwiferyprogrammes are certified as Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Midwives (RM) respectively.
• Students from Post Basic Nursingand Post Basic Midwiferyreceive additional professional certifications in their specialized areas.

Important Notes

• Graduates of the ND/HND in Nursing Sciencesare required to complete a one-year mandatory Supervised Clinical Experience (internship)and are eligible for mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
• Graduates of Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery, Post Basic Nursing, and Post Basic Midwifery programmes do not undergo internship or NYSC.
